U.S. Senators Expand Ban, Proposing Restrictions on Stock Trading by the President and Vice President

[Block Rhythm] On July 30, it was reported that the bill by Republican Senator Josh Hawley to prohibit stock trading by members of Congress is becoming a major challenge for the Republican Party. Several insiders revealed that due to the opposition from Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rand Paul, Hawley needs Democratic support to pass the committee vote scheduled for Wednesday. As a result, Hawley agreed to include wording that would also prohibit the President and Vice President, which would ban the President and Vice President from making certain investments, expanding the original scope which was limited to members of Congress. Sources stated that after the White House's Office of Legislative Affairs learned of this, it began to push back, lobbying against the stock trading ban.
