The number of initial jobless claims in the United States hits a 15-month low, far exceeding expectations.

On July 17, the U.S. initial jobless claims for the week ending July 12 stood at 221,000, lower than the expected 235,000, marking the lowest level since the week of April 12, 2025. The previous value was revised from 227,000 to 228,000.
