Fidelity's subsidiary has become the largest shareholder of Metaplanet with a stake worth 816 million dollars.
Metaplanet has announced that National Financial Services LLC (NFS), a subsidiary of Fidelity Investments, is now their largest shareholder, holding 84.4 million shares, equivalent to 12.9% of total equity, worth approximately 121 billion yen (816 million dollars). As of March 31, NFS only owned 1.91 million shares.
NFS is the custodian for investors using Fidelity's trading platform, one of the 12 Bitcoin ETF issuers in the US. The increase in shares reflects strong interest from institutions and retail investors in Metaplanet, thanks to the company's strong commitment to Bitcoin.
Although Metaplanet's stock has fallen over 24% in the past month, the company still accounts for 29.2% of the trading volume in Japanese yen on the Tokyo Stock Exchange over the last 20 trading sessions.
